# Read the Course Books

> Sign in to the O'Reilly learning platform with your university account to read the assigned textbooks at no cost.

The syllabus and the weekly guides link directly into books on the O'Reilly learning platform. Those links land on a paywall unless you are signed in through your university, which most of you can do at no cost. Sort this out in the first week, because the reading starts immediately.

## Signing in

Go to the [O'Reilly member login](https://www.oreilly.com/member/login/) and choose the institutional route rather than creating an account.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enter your university email">
    Use the address your university issued you, not a personal Gmail or Outlook address. O'Reilly decides which institution you belong to from the domain, so a personal address will not find your subscription.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select your institution">
    Pick your university from the list, then continue with single sign-on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete your university login">
    You are handed to your own university's login page. Sign in there as you would for any other campus service, including multi-factor authentication if your institution requires it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You end up back on O'Reilly, signed in. You can install the iPad/iPhone/Android apps as well.
